    How do I make an appointment?


    The initial session allows us to determine if we are a good fit for working together and if I am the right counsellor or EMDR practitioner to meet your needs. For counselling, the first session typically lasts about an hour, while an initial EMDR session may last up to 90 minutes.

    You should allow just over an hour for your first appointment.

     

    In this first meeting, we will discuss your expectations from counselling or EMDR therapy and the nature of the difficulties that have led you to seek help. This discussion helps clarify any misconceptions and provides you with a clear understanding of what to expect, including any potential financial commitments.

     

    Duration of Counselling

     

    Counselling duration can vary widely, ranging from weeks to months or even years, based on your individual needs. It is generally recommended to commit to a minimum of six to eight sessions initially to properly assess your situation and begin the therapeutic process. Sessions are typically held weekly but may become less frequent as you make progress. Most sessions last about an hour.

     

    There is no obligation to continue with counselling if you decide it is no longer right for you. However, if you choose to discontinue during a challenging period, it’s important to have alternative support in place to help you through.
